Building Canada Fund - Communities Component
On November 9, 2007, the Governments of Canada and Nova Scotia announced the signing of a framework under
Building Canada worth $634.38 million.
One component of the Building Canada Fund is the Communities Component, which is an $111-million, six-year investment towards municipal infrastructure. This component is a cost-sharing infrastructure investment among the three levels of government -- federal, provincial and municipal.
The Communities Component provides funding for infrastructure projects in communities with populations of less than 100,000. This funding helps these communities meet their unique challenges and, in turn, make Nova Scotia's economy stronger and contributing to a cleaner environment.
Please note that funding under the Communities Component is fully committed.

Infrastructure Stimulus Fund
The Infrastructure Stimulus Fund is a key component of Canada's Economic Action Plan. The fund invests in provincial, territorial and municipal construction-ready infrastructure rehabilitation projects being built during this construction seasons this year and next year.
The provincial and federal governments are working together to create jobs and boost the economy, while making significant investments that help communities improve their infrastructure. Both governments have agreed to work together to ensure that these funds are delivered quickly and efficiently to municipalities in Nova Scotia.
The Infrastructure Stimulus Fund invested more than $38 million (federal and provincial combined) in 39 shovel-ready municipal infrastructure projects throughout the province.
The Infrastructure Stimulus Fund is fully committed.
